HLTAID007 Provide Advanced Resuscitation describes with the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.

This course covers the skills and techniques to provide an advanced resuscitation response. The course will include the use of specialised equipments such as oxygen equipment, airway equipment and defibrillator use. The course is ideally suited for first responders. In addition to the listed unit participants will also be issued with a HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation qualification.

We run our classes at the CWA hall, 159 Bettington Street, Merriwa NSW 2329 or in the workplace

Course Duration (face to face)

  • Face to Face – 6 hours (minimum) – full face to face course
  • Blended delivery – 4 hours (minimum) face to face course – with the addition of 2 hours self-paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face course
  • Refresher training – 4 hours (minimum) – conditions apply for this option, for example, you will need to provide previous current certificates.


Work Placement Arrangements
No work placement will be required as part of this course.

Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.

Entry Requirements
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.

What happens at the course?

Assessment Activities
Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

    • Performance tasks – The assessor will observe you demonstrating the following:
      • Recognise an emergency and make the scene safe
      • Perform CPR on an infant
      • Perform CPR & defibrillation on an adult
      • Assess and monitor a casualty
      • Locate workplace policies and procedures
      • Administer oxygen for the unconscious
      • Administer oxygen for the conscious
      • Fill out an incident report
      • Verbally report an incident debrief
      • Check, maintain and clean equipment ready for future use
    • Theory assessment
      • A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. You must complete all assessment questions.
